NOW OPEN: The Inaugural Edition of Design.Space

(LOS ANGELES, CA — Saturday, March 29, 2025) The inaugural edition of Design.Space is now open starting today, March 29, and ending tomorrow, March 30, taking over the Pacific Design Center, offering exclusive access to a reimagined retail experience. Jesse Lee, Founder of Basic.Space and Chairman of Design Miami presents a curated selection of pieces from top artists, designers, galleries, and brands, immersively presented across indoor and outdoor spaces. From large-scale art installations to smaller collectible design objects, Design.Space combines the familiarity of a department store with the world-class culture of an art and design fair.
“Design.Space is doubling down on what curation in design, art and fashion really means to us,” says Jesse Lee, Founder of Basic.Space and Chairman of Design Miami. “While design is the leading category, art and archival fashion are what consumers want as well. Through this IRL-to-URL shopping experience, we are trying to establish a different kind of market that offers a mix of familiarity and discovery.”
HIGHLIGHTS
Blending the accessibility of high-end retail experiences with the curation of an art and design fair, Design.Space showcases archival and contemporary works from leading artists. Notable highlights include exclusive works by Jean Prouvé, Ettore Sottsass and David Kelley, Jean Pigozzi, Max Lamb, Pierre Paulin, Sabine Marcelis, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, JF Chen, HOMMEMADE, Gufram, Nick Thomm, Emma Cook, Archived, Justin Reed, and more.

ENORME Telephone 1985 by Ettore Sottsass, David Kelley, and Jean Pigozzi
Designed by Memphis founder Ettore Sottsass, IDEO founder David Kelley, and investor Jean Pigozzi, the telephone is a postmodern icon that fuses art, technology, and design, with only 1,000 units ever produced. In 2025, a time capsule of 500 untouched ENORME sets was discovered in Stanford, California. With the support of Kelley, Pigozzi, and surviving Memphis members, the collectible landline—featured in permanent collections of MoMA, The Met, and RISD—is now available exclusively in its original 1985 packaging.
HOMMEMADE
A$AP Rocky’s second release of his HOMMEMADE furniture design studio expands his Retro Futurism world building - an amalgamation of his unique style and commitment to solidifying his mark on the design industry. The Galaxy Collection provides a deeper look into what a surreal retro-futuristic lifestyle would look like from the POV of a Satellite. The “satelamp” projector/lamp compliments the theory of the collection, while the Skyline Carpet collaboration with Gufram gives a more zoomed-in perspective. These pieces, highlighted by Rocky’s most audacious piece to date - a portable, all-in-one state-of-the-art Studio and Entertainment Center, The CBNT.V1, share a common push/pull theme of retro meets futuristic.

Gas Station 1969 by Jean Prouvé
Originally designed by Jean Prouvé for the oil company Total, this gas station represents the pinnacle of his ability to merge design, innovation, and structural efficiency. The Gas Station remains a milestone in the history of industrial and modular architecture. Polygonal 'Sainte-Marie' model gas station - converted to residential use, featuring a central element in bent steel, facade panels in aluminum and glass, and neoprene joints for watertightness. Design.Space marks the first time the gas station has been shown in the United States.
Chirac Sofa by Pierre Paulin x Christo and Jeanne-Claude x Parley (See hero image above)
A collaboration between Paulin Paulin Paulin and the environmental organization Parley for the Oceans, this collectible design piece is crafted using repurposed material from the historic L’Arc de Triomphe (1961-2021) by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, featuring its signature red polypropylene ropes—reimagined into a powerful symbol of creative reuse. Limited Edition of 8.
50 Armchairs by Max Lamb
Max Lamb and Salon 94 Design introduce the 50 Armchair—an evolution of his now iconic Economy Chair series. This new limited edition in Coca-Cola Red follows five years after the release of 60 Chairs, a performance in material exploration when Lamb transformed five 4-inch slabs of polystyrene into 60 chairs in just three days—a sprint in precise cutting, gluing, and assembly. Chairs 01-09 are exclusive to Design.Space.

Stedelijk Chair by Sabine Marcelis for BD Barcelona
Originally created in raw aluminum for the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Chair debuts in a limited edition of 50 in a LAVENDER FROST colorway—an exclusive release for Basic.Space, celebrating the new color palette presented by BD Barcelona. Sabine Marcelis merges timeless design and sculpture in a handmade chair that is stackable, lightweight, and made of a 100% aluminum body.
JF Chen
JF Chen offers furniture and decorative arts, from eclectic period pieces to masterworks of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. JF Chen’s museum quality furniture, lighting, accessories and art is now available at Design.Space.

THOMME by Nick Thomm
Nick Thomm, an Australian Artist living and working in Los Angeles, is known for his large-scale, hyper-color Spectral Paintings and immersive projection installations. Through his work, Thomm explores modern color systems, abstract image construction, and the merge of traditional art with technology, resulting in a hypnotic combination of form and color. His new body of work, THOMME, combines the vibrant artistic language of his art through the lens of designed objects for the home.
Emma Cook
Emma cc Cook is a contemporary artist and designer best known for her old-world craft traditions, such as heirloom hardwood design, and her unconventional oil paintings of agricultural America.
