Basic.Space brings its invite-only, IRL-to-URL shopping experience to New York
Kris Van Assche, Devon Turnbull, KidSuper and MSCHF, among others, curate and create spaces for the reimagined shopping experience, taking place November 14-16, 2025 in downtown Manhattan.

(NEW YORK, NY—September 15, 2025) Basic.Space brings its online bespoke marketplace to life in New York this November with an IRL private shopping experience hosting a selection of exclusive design, art, and fashion pieces curated in collaboration with leading creative talent.
The invitation-only event will see Basic.Space curate over 20,000 sq ft of an undisclosed downtown venue, revealed upon confirmation of RSVP. Delivering unique and reimagined shopping experiences, the event will combine immersive installations with rare and collectible design, art and fashion, and be available to shop in-person or in-app.
The platform hosted its inaugural tentpole event at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles earlier this year, selling iconic pieces including the Jean Prouvé gas station ($1.5M) from Laffanour | Galerie Downtown alongside collaborations with A$AP Rocky and attracting notable attendees including Kendall Jenner, Omar Apollo, Kelly Wearstler, Caleb Williams, Zack Bia and more.
Multidisciplinary artist Devon Turnbull (OJAS) presents his HiFi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 2 in NY for the very first time, an immersive installation with a custom-built sound system that delivers exceptionally high-fidelity playback. Originally created for SFMOMA’s Art of Noise exhibition, it invites audiences to slow down and engage deeply with the act of listening.
As part of a series of curated spaces, Kris Van Assche will bring his collaboration with Laffanour | Galerie Downtown to New York. Presenting bronze vases and vessels, highlighting the designer’s approach to sculptural objects, the series will be displayed alongside furniture and design pieces from the gallery’s collection, as well as new colorways of Edizioni del Pesce from Meritalia, and a soon-to-be-unveiled audio collaboration by Memphis.

Designer Marquel Williams is curating a shoppable installation compiling works from leading galleries, including Carpenters Workshop and Friedman Benda, with designs from Andrea Branzi, Pierre Jeanneret, Vincenzo De Cotiis, Rick Owens, and Wendell Castle.
Described by Ettore Sottsass as “a place for intellectual combat,” the Memphis Tawaraya Boxing Ring is the show’s centerpiece. Masanori Umeda’s radical 1981 design was custom-built for Karl Lagerfeld’s infamous all-Memphis apartment in Monaco, where it anchored his home from 1981 to 1991. Now offered by friend and collector Jean Pigozzi, the piece carries both the theatrical spirit of Memphis and the patina of Lagerfeld’s most transformative decade—presented by ENORME Corporation (1985, 2025) alongside the audacious ENORME Telephone.

Curators and collectors Jordan “Watts” Watson (LoveWatts) and Jeff Magid bring a dedicated art gallery experience to Basic.Space NY, uniting Watson’s global platform and cultural tastemaking with Magid’s vision as a distinguished collector and patron. Together, they create a new arena where art is experienced, shared, and reimagined.
MSCHF brings together a rare display of their most recognized pieces including the viral Global Supply Chain Telephone Handbag collection, underscoring their growing role at the intersection of art, design, and culture. KidSuper will bring his trademark style to life through a specially commissioned “Playroom” space, inviting visitors to discover and shop bold, playful and experimental objects from the likes of Gufram, Tadashi Adamson and more.
BEAMS America will present a curated selection of products that reflect the brand’s cultural perspective. Rooted in Japanese heritage but shaped by a global outlook, the pop-up features objects that bridge the worlds of traditional craftsmanship, contemporary design, and urban subcultures.
“The core mission of Basic.Space was, is and always will be about discovery. While technology and social media provide the ultimate convenience, they also commoditized style and taste, which makes us yearn for something unique with a point of view. This past spring in LA, we produced an invite-only, IRL-to-URL shopping experience through our specific lens of curation. With its success, it only made sense to bring the concept to New York in November, collaborating with legendary designers, galleries, and emerging creatives to provide our members an opportunity to explore and acquire amazing pieces in a thoughtfully curated environment,” says Jesse Lee, Founder / CEO of Basic.Space and Chairman of Design Miami.
A private, invitation-only destination for smart and personalized shopping, Basic.Space brings together an online marketplace with tentpole events and members-only experiences throughout the year. Basic.Space NY will run from November 14-16 and will announce further details in the coming weeks.
